Kader Khan
Kader Khan was a true Bollywood workhorse who left an unmistakable mark on Hindi cinema over nearly five decades. Starting his acting career in 1973 with Rajesh Khanna's *Daag*, this Afghan-born talent went on to appear in over 300 films, becoming one of the industry's most recognizable faces. But Khan's genius wasn't limited to acting—he was also a prolific screenwriter who penned dialogues for around 200 films, particularly dominating the scene from the late 1970s through the 1990s. Before the cameras started rolling, Khan had an entirely different life as a civil engineering professor at M. H. Saboo Siddik College in Mumbai, which speaks volumes about his intellectual depth. His contributions to cinema were so significant that he was honored with the Padma Shri in 2019, a recognition that came posthumously but underscored his legacy. What made Khan special was his versatility and his gift for delivering powerful, nuanced performances across diverse character types. Whether playing a villain, a comic foil, or a dramatic lead, he brought authenticity and intensity that elevated every scene he was in. His sharp wit and ability to write compelling dialogues made him invaluable to directors—they knew Khan could deliver both on screen and on page. While his later years saw fewer high-profile projects, his body of work from the 1980s and 1990s remains a goldmine for Bollywood fans, featuring collaborations with major stars and beloved classics that defined generations of Hindi cinema. Khan passed away in 2018 in Canada, but his fingerprints are all over some of Bollywood's most cherished films.
