5/10Critic Score

"Kanoon Meri Mutthi Mein" operates within familiar Bollywood territory—the revenge-driven female protagonist with a dual identity—yet struggles to find fresh narrative oxygen within that well-worn framework. The central conceit of Inspector Sagar unknowingly pursuing the civilian version of Jwala while developing romantic feelings has genuine potential for dramatic irony, and the film does extract some tension from this setup in its middle passages. However, the execution falters when it comes to character depth; Geeta's transformation from grieving sister to ruthless dacoit feels more like a plot device than a psychologically earned journey. The direction occasionally captures compelling moments—particularly in sequences where Geeta navigates the emotional minefield of Sagar's proximity—but too often resorts to melodramatic shortcuts rather than exploring the moral ambiguity inherent in her vigilantism. The climactic reconciliation, while narratively tidy, undermines what could have been a more complex meditation on justice versus vengeance.

Performatively, the film rests heavily on its female lead to carry both the hardened criminal and the romantic heroine, which demands considerable nuance that doesn't always materialize. Supporting players, particularly the male lead as Sagar, are serviceable but lack the charisma needed to elevate standard dialogue. The technical craft—cinematography, editing—is competent without distinction, giving the film a somewhat generic veneer d

Storyline

Geeta's world shatters when dacoits brutally murder her beloved brother Bikram on Raksha Bandhan—a day meant for sibling love becomes her darkest nightmare. Fueled by grief and rage, she transforms herself into Jwala, a fearless lady dacoit who strikes terror across the region, determined to hunt down every last person responsible for her brother's death. Her vendetta becomes legendary, and soon the authorities have no choice but to dispatch their best: Inspector Sagar, a by-the-book cop with a sharp mind and sharper instincts.

But here's where fate plays its cruel hand—Sagar spots Geeta in her civilian avatar and falls head over heels for her, completely unaware that the soft-spoken beauty he's wooing is actually the stone-cold criminal mastermind he's been chasing! The tension absolutely crackles as he gets closer to her, asking questions about her past while she skillfully dodges his suspicions, all while wrestling with her growing feelings for him. Meanwhile, Jwala's revenge mission intensifies, and Sagar inches closer to uncovering her secret identity with every investigation.

When the truth finally explodes between them, Sagar faces an impossible choice: duty to the badge or love for the woman he adored. Geeta's thirst for vengeance collides with her newfound love, forcing her to decide whether she'll remain Jwala the avenger or embrace redemption through Sagar's love. In a climactic showdown that'll leave you breathless, their love proves stronger than revenge, and together they take down the real villains while she finally finds peace—proving that sometimes the greatest victory isn't about settling scores, it's about choosing love over darkness.
