Lillete Dubey
Lillete Dubey is a powerhouse performer who's been dominating Indian theatre and cinema since the 1970s. Starting her acting journey with the legendary Barry John in Delhi, she co-founded Theatre Action Group in 1973 and later established her own theatre company, The Primetime Theatre Company, in 1991. On screen, she's delivered unforgettable performances in critically acclaimed films like *Monsoon Wedding* (which won the Golden Lion at Venice), *Kal Ho Naa Ho*, *Baghban*, and *The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel* series—earning a BAFTA for Best Ensemble Cast with the latter. From indie gems like *My Brother...Nikhil* to international productions, Dubey has proven she's equally comfortable navigating Bollywood blockbusters and art house cinema. What sets Lillete apart is her commitment to bringing depth and authenticity to every role, whether she's lighting up the silver screen or commanding a theatre stage. Her theatre work—from *Adhe Adhure* to *August - Osage County*—has earned her major accolades and cemented her reputation as a serious actor's actor. Recent years have seen her continue to take on meaningful roles in projects like *Sonata* and *Bow Barracks Forever*, proving that this veteran doesn't do vanity casting. Dubey represents a rare breed in Indian entertainment: someone equally respected in experimental theatre and mainstream cinema, and someone who consistently chooses substance over star power.
