Review
There's a particular kind of heartbreak when a film arrives with genuine potential but squanders it at every turn. Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story wants so desperately to be that effortless romantic comedy that makes your heart skip—the kind where witty banter flows like champagne and chemistry crackles between two leads. Vardhan Puri and Kaveri Kapur bring earnestness to their performances, and the film's gorgeous locations whisper promises of something beautiful. But whispers aren't enough. The real tragedy lies in the writing, which strangles every moment with forced dialogue and clumsy rom-com beats that feel more obligatory than organic. You can sense what this film *wanted* to be, and that gap between intention and execution is precisely where it loses you.
What makes this hurt more is the absence of anything worth fighting for. There's no real conflict propelling these characters toward each other, no genuine stakes making you lean forward in anticipation, no reason your heart should race alongside theirs. The chemistry between them registers as pleasant at best, utterly forgettable at worst—like watching two genuinely kind people exchange pleasantries rather than fall in love. The soundtrack fades into the background, the narrative meanders without purpose, and by the film's midpoint, your attention has already drifted elsewhere. Director Kohli clearly has better stories in him, and this feels like a project that wasn't ready to meet the world. Sometimes the kindest th
Storyline
So basically, this woman Bobby gets stuck at an airport when her flight gets canceled because of some volcanic ash situation, and that's where she bumps into this guy Rishi who's completely smitten with her right away. He's so into her that he actually follows her to Cambridge, and they end up having this really sweet day together walking around, talking, and getting to know each other. Bobby's a bit wary at first because she's been hurt before, but she can't help but start falling for this charming guy.
Fast forward two years, and get this — they somehow end up together and actually get married! But here's the thing, their relationship isn't all sunshine and rainbows anymore. They're sitting in a couples therapist's office trying to figure out what went wrong between them. As they dig into their past and talk through all their doubts and fears, they start reflecting on those early magical moments they shared.
The whole movie basically explores whether these two can find their way back to each other or if they're just meant to go separate ways. It's all about them wrestling with their feelings and trying to figure out if what they had was real enough to fight for, or if sometimes people just grow apart.
