Vikram Bose's Review:

"I M 24" attempts to mine comedy from a premise that's inherently uncomfortable—a middle-aged man catfishing a young woman—yet the film's execution never quite justifies why we should find this deception amusing. Director [name withheld, as not provided] struggles to navigate the tonal tightrope between romance and manipulation; the script treats Subhendu's elaborate lie as harmless mischief rather than the violation it actually is. Where the film does find footing is in the buddy dynamic between Subhendu and Gagan, their shared apartment struggles providing genuine moments of warmth and humor that feel earned rather than forced. The supporting cast brings energy to these scenes, though the lead performance—caught between playing a romantic protagonist and a morally questionable schemer—never resolves the fundamental contradiction at the story's core.

The crux of the problem lies in the screenplay's inability to interrogate its own premise. Rather than exploring the psychology of deception or offering any real consequence for the protagonist's actions, the film opts for a surface-level romantic comedy that asks us to root for a lie. There are flashes of competent filmmaking here—some well-shot Mumbai sequences, decent comedic timing in ensemble moments—but they're insufficient to overcome the hollow center. It's a film that wants to have its cake and eat it too, positioning itself as both a love story and a comedy about reinvention, without committing

Storyline

So there's this middle-aged guy named Subhendu who basically decides he's going to reinvent himself online because he's got the hots for this super young woman called Kanak. The thing is, he's way older than her, so he figures his best shot is to totally lie about his age and pretend he's only 24. To make it even more convincing, he claims he's working as a writer for some big Bollywood director. Pretty wild strategy, right?

Subhendu shares his place with his buddy Gagan, who's desperately trying to make it as an actor in the industry. So you've got these two guys living together, and Subhendu's cooking up this whole scheme to win over Kanak through these online conversations where he's basically catfishing her with a completely fake identity.

The whole thing becomes this crazy mess as Subhendu tries to juggle his fake persona while actually pursuing this girl. You can imagine all the complications that come from trying to maintain such a huge lie, especially when you're dealing with someone you're genuinely interested in.
