5/10Critic Score

Uvaa attempts to navigate the treacherous terrain of youth redemption narratives, positioning four Delhi suburban delinquents as protagonists worthy of our investment. The premise—privileged troublemakers confronting moral reckoning at a convent school—carries genuine potential, but director Tejasvi Nandan's execution falters in translating character arc ambition into cinematic coherence. The film struggles with tonal inconsistency, oscillating between comedic irreverence and melodramatic gravity without establishing a convincing emotional through-line. The performances feel earnest enough, particularly in scenes demanding vulnerability, yet the writing doesn't provide sufficient scaffolding for audiences to genuinely champion these characters' transformation. What should feel like earned redemption instead registers as narrative convenience.

The core storytelling problem lies in the film's inability to make the "dark and disturbing" catalytic event land with thematic weight. Rather than functioning as genuine character turning point, it plays more like a plot device—mechanically advancing the story without deepening our understanding of why these four specifically deserve a second look. The screenplay needed either sharper social commentary on privilege and accountability or more intimate character study; instead, it settles for a middle ground that satisfies neither impulse. Box office numbers (₹0.28 Cr, -89% ROI) suggest audiences also found the film's moral positioning u

Storyline

So there's this group of four guys from the Delhi suburbs who basically think they can do whatever they want. Anil, Vikram, Salmaan, and Deenbandhu are the kind of troublemakers who don't really care about rules or how their actions affect others. They've got everything going for them and zero responsibilities, so they just bulldoze through life doing whatever pleases them.

Everything shifts when these four end up at a fancy convent school, which is totally outside their comfort zone. Suddenly they're in a completely different environment where they have to figure out how to fit in. Of course, they're still chasing the usual teenage stuff like romance and just trying to get through school, but then something really dark and disturbing happens that night that completely derails their plans.

That single horrible event flips their entire world upside down and gets them tangled up with the law. From that point on, these guys have to step up and actually take responsibility for themselves. They find themselves in this intense battle where they need to fight for what's right and stand up for their principles, knowing that their actions now have real consequences that could change things for everyone around them.
