"Khooni Mahal" operates within the familiar confines of Indian supernatural horror, trading originality for atmospheric setup—a possessed landlord, a cursed mansion, a trapped couple. Director Anurag Kashyap's execution, however, feels derivative and emotionally hollow. The premise itself isn't without merit: the backstory of Jagira's rampage carries potential for exploring themes of collective guilt and karmic retribution. Yet the film squanders this by defaulting to jump-scares and CGI spectacle rather than psychological tension. The performances, particularly from the lead couple, lack the vulnerability needed to make their ordeal resonate; they react to horror rather than inhabiting it. Storyline
