5/10Critic Score

Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D'Cruz share a chemistry that feels lived-in rather than manufactured, and that's genuinely the film's strongest asset. Their performances carry a naturalism—particularly in the quieter moments—that suggests two people who have history, even if the screenplay doesn't always know what to do with it. Director Navin Nischol attempts to navigate the tricky terrain of unspoken longing and denial, and while the earnestness is admirable, the execution stumbles frequently. The first half meanders without clarity, treating the central conflict as something to be danced around rather than explored, and by the time the film finally commits to its emotional stakes, much of the goodwill has already dissipated.

What ultimately hampers *Wedding Pullav* is its reluctance to take risks with its premise. A story about two people unable to confront their feelings could have been deliciously uncomfortable or darkly comic, but instead it settles into safe, conventional territory—complete with a resolution that feels more obligatory than earned. The supporting cast fades into the background, the humor lands sporadically at best, and Nischol's direction, while competent, lacks the sharpness needed to elevate familiar material. There's the kernel of a genuinely touching film here, buried beneath middling execution and a script that seems unsure whether it wants to be a romantic comedy or a character study.

Storyline

So basically, this movie is about two really close friends, Adi and Anushka, who are totally crushing on each other but neither of them realizes it. Things get super awkward when Adi's getting married to someone else, and Anushka has to show up to the wedding. It's one of those situations where they're both pretty much in denial about what's actually going on between them.

The jealousy starts flying around once Adi finds out that Anushka is dating someone. Meanwhile, Anushka is having her own issues because she suddenly can't stand the idea of Adi marrying this other woman—even though she'd been all supportive about her before everything went weird. It's that classic thing where you say nice things about someone but your real feelings betray you.

Once they finally catch on to what's actually happening in their hearts, everything gets complicated because now they have to figure out what to do about it. They know how they feel, but there's all this baggage and confusion about whether they should actually act on these feelings or just keep pretending everything's fine. It's definitely one of those emotional roller coasters where you're not quite sure which way things are gonna go.
