"Saboot" attempts to marry family drama with supernatural revenge thriller, a combination that could have yielded compelling cinema but instead settles for predictable genre mechanics. The core premise—a wronged patriarch returning as a vengeful ghost—carries genuine emotional weight, particularly in how it positions Dharamdas as both victim and perpetrator of violence. However, director's execution suffers from inconsistent tonal management; the film lurches between grounded family pathos and horror spectacle without earning the transitions, making the supernatural elements feel tacked on rather than organic to the narrative. The performances, while earnest, struggle against a screenplay that prioritizes plot mechanics over character development. Inspector Anand's arc—from skeptic to believer to reluctant executioner—has promise but lacks the psychological depth needed to make his final act genuinely tragic rather than merely serviceable.
What works intermittently is the film's interrogation of justice versus vengeance, a thematic undercurrent that surfaces most powerfully in the climax. The tragic irony of Anand shooting down a ghost driven by righteous fury suggests the filmmakers understood something profound about moral ambiguity. Yet this insight feels undermined by the procedural plotting that dominates the middle sections, where supernatural kills become mere spectacle divorced from emotional consequence. The film's box office context matters less than its fundamenta
Storyline
A grieving daughter and a shattered family become pawns in a ruthless game when a factory deal goes sideways! Seth Dharamdas decides to honor his late son-in-law Vikas by turning the factory into a memorial instead of selling it to the ruthless Dhanraj, but that decision seals his fate. Before he can even reach Nainital, Dhanraj and his hired thugs—including Dharamdas's own trusted employees—corner him on a train, force him to sign everything away, and murder him in cold blood, burying him like he was never there.
What unfolds next is pure supernatural chaos that'll mess with your head! Dharamdas's ghost rises from the grave to haunt the men who killed him, and they start dropping dead one by one in absolute terror. Inspector Anand, a friend of the family, gets pulled into the case when Asha and Kajal report their father missing, and he becomes convinced that Dharamdas is somehow alive and systematically hunting down his killers for revenge.
The twist hits like a punch—when Anand finally catches a glimpse of the ghostly Dharamdas, he doesn't hesitate and shoots him down! It's this raw, tragic moment where justice and vengeance blur into something heartbreaking, and you realize the truth has been haunting everyone all along. The family gets closure, the villains face their reckoning, and Dharamdas finally finds peace—but at what cost?
