5.8/10Critic Score

Sunhil Sippy's "Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya" is a film caught between earnest emotional sincerity and narrative overambition, ultimately landing as a moderately engaging family drama that banks heavily on the chemistry between its leads rather than structural coherence. The first half works reasonably well—Muskaan's desire for independence feels genuine, and Suraj's redemption arc from urban drifter to stable boy carries enough weight to sustain viewer interest. However, the screenplay struggles with tonal balance; it pivots awkwardly from romantic comedy to farm drama to revenge thriller, with each genre shift feeling unearned. Sooraj Pancholi and Isabelle Kaif share decent chemistry, and their performances in quieter moments hint at the film's emotional core, but the supporting cast often feels underutilized, particularly in fleshing out Vishal's protective obsession beyond surface-level melodrama.

What truly derails the narrative is its final act, where the stepmother's sudden turn—from antagonist to informant to moral compass—strains credibility beyond repair. The climactic rescue sequence, while technically competent, feels like a plot obligation rather than an organic culmination of character arcs. The film's ₹33.36 crore collection and 330% ROI suggest audiences connected with its family-centric messaging and romantic core, which places it comfortably above director Sippy's average output (5.6/10). Storyline

Muskaan's stuck on the farm with her overprotective brother Vishal, desperate to escape to Mumbai for university, and honestly, you feel her hunger for freedom! She finally convinces him and lands there, where she meets Suraj, this charming underachiever who's basically rebelling against his absent father and awful stepmother. They fall madly in love, but when Vishal shows up unannounced, chaos erupts—everyone assumes he's her boyfriend and a massive fight breaks out! Once the confusion clears, Vishal's immediately skeptical, convinced Suraj is a loser with zero ambition and a terrible influence on his sister's studies.

So Vishal drags Muskaan back to the farm to protect her, but Suraj's genuinely determined and becomes a stable boy after literally saving Uncle Ajay's life! Vishal tests him anyway and obviously rejects him—because of course he does—then tries to force Muskaan into marrying some Thakur's brother for revenge against an old family feud she doesn't even know about. Suraj discovers the sinister plan and goes full redemption arc mode, trying desperately to win Vishal's trust while his stepmother somehow finds out everything and her jealousy explodes into violence!

When Suraj's stepmother finally confronts Muskaan and she runs straight into the Thakur's thugs, it becomes a full rescue mission where Suraj, his father, Vishal, and Ajay all show up together to save her! The stepmother's sudden call to police proves she actually cares about Suraj's life and wellbeing, totally humanizing her in one swoop. Vishal finally sees Suraj's genuine love and commitment, drops his stubborn pride, and welcomes him as a brother-in-law—it's the kind of earned acceptance that actually hits hard!
