"Pasand Apni Apni" operates as a slick romantic comedy that understands the mechanics of urban gossip and manufactured celebrity, even if its execution occasionally stumbles under the weight of its own contrivances. The film's central premise—a woman's career resurrected by false rumor—carries genuine satirical potential, particularly in how it comments on Delhi's obsession with status and appearance. The performances, particularly in the quieter moments between Geeta and her journalist love interest, demonstrate an earnestness that elevates the material beyond typical rom-com territory. Director Vikas Bahl seems invested in exploring genuine emotional stakes beneath the romantic comedy framework, and there are stretches where this ambition pays dividends, especially in the second act when the machinery of deception begins to crack.

However, the film struggles with tonal consistency and narrative logic in its final act. Storyline

Geeta's career is basically on life support when she hitches a ride in a fancy limo belonging to the mysterious Sandeep Anand. One innocent moment of stepping out of that car and boom—the whole city thinks she's his fiancée! Suddenly, theatre offers pour in, invitations flood her inbox, and she's the hottest ticket in town, all because of this juicy rumor.

But here's where it gets messy: a charming journalist starts following her everywhere, documenting her rise to fame, and Geeta genuinely falls for him. She's convinced he's interested in *her*, not the gossip, not the drama. Then comes the twist that absolutely wrecks her—this devoted journalist? He's actually Sandeep Anand the whole time, and he's been documenting his own fiancée-by-rumor all along!

The real magic happens when everything comes crashing down and then magically clicks into place. Geeta realizes the love she felt was genuine, even if it was built on a beautiful lie. Sandeep proves he cares about her authentic self, not just the manufactured version the city created. They end up together not because of mistaken identities or borrowed prestige, but because sometimes the best love stories are the ones that survive their own chaos.
