5.2/10Critic Score

"Main Aurr Mrs Khanna" arrives as a well-intentioned relationship drama that struggles to transcend its formulaic premise. The film's central conceit—a marriage fracturing under financial strain, only to be tested further by a convenient third-party arrival—feels narratively inevitable rather than emotionally earned. Pawan Kripalani's direction attempts to mine pathos from Melbourne's expatriate backdrop, but the emotional arcs remain surface-level, relying heavily on melodramatic turns rather than genuine character introspection. Kareena Kapoor Khan brings her characteristic screen presence to Raina, though her character arc from abandoned spouse to conflicted love interest lacks the nuance needed to elevate the material. Diljit Dosanjh and Barun Sobti are serviceable in their roles, but the script doesn't provide enough dimensionality for them to transform stock characters into compelling presences.

The narrative's primary weakness lies in its moral ambiguity handled without sophistication—Samir's abandonment at the airport is presented as both a plot catalyst and a character flaw, yet the film never meaningfully interrogates why a couple would separate rather than struggle together, making his motivations feel contrived. The visa subplot, introduced in the final act, plays like narrative padding designed to manufacture stakes rather than organic complication. While the Australian locations provide visual respite from typical Bollywood geography, they don't compensate for

Storyline

So basically, there's this couple, Raina and Samir, who fall head over heels for each other and decide to tie the knot even though his family isn't thrilled about it since she doesn't have parents. They move to Melbourne to start their married life, with Samir working in finance while Raina picks up a job at a restaurant. Things seem pretty normal at first, but then his career takes a nosedive and everything starts falling apart between them.

When Samir's business struggles get worse, he makes a tough call to chase new opportunities in Singapore. But here's the kicker—he basically tells Raina they need to separate for a while so he can focus on rebuilding himself financially, and he leaves her at the airport to head to Delhi while he heads off on his own. It's a pretty gutsy and heartless move, honestly, and Raina's left standing there trying to figure out her life.

Right at that moment, Raina bumps into this guy named Aakash at the airport, and they just click instantly. He turns out to be super helpful and uses his connections to get her an amazing job at the airport plus a gorgeous place to live. As they spend more time together working in close quarters, Aakash starts developing real feelings for her, and Raina finds herself leaning on him for everything in her life. But to make matters worse, she's also dealing with visa issues that could force her to leave Australia altogether.
