Review
Rajat Kapoor's "Machine" attempts to weave a romantic thriller with action-adventure elements, but the execution falters under the weight of its own convoluted narrative. The premise—a wealthy heiress deceived by a charming imposter—has potential, yet the film squanders it through inconsistent pacing and underdeveloped character arcs. The performances feel caught between romantic drama and thriller beats; neither register convincingly. The central twist, while intended as a gut-punch revelation, arrives without sufficient groundwork, making it feel more contrived than impactful. The action sequences involving the commando character Raj feel grafted onto a romance that never solidified, creating tonal whiplash rather than genuine narrative progression.
What's most troubling is how the film's ambitions exceed its storytelling capabilities. The "crazy rabbit hole of secrets" promised in the synopsis never materializes with substantive intrigue—instead, we get expository dialogues explaining motivations rather than showing them dramatically. The family conspiracy subplot feels perfunctory, introduced late and resolved hastily. Kapoor's direction lacks the finesse needed to balance intimate character moments with larger action set pieces. The ₹3.48 crore box office collection, a catastrophic -88% ROI, reflects audiences' clear rejection, though the financial failure stems more from execution failures than concept alone. Storyline
So basically, this movie is about two racing fanatics named Sarah and Ransh who meet at a car race and end up becoming classmates. Sarah's this super wealthy heiress, and Ransh is this charming new guy in town. They develop serious feelings for each other and eventually tie the knot. It's all pretty romantic at first, you know, the whole meet-cute vibe at a racing event kind of thing.
But then things get absolutely wild because it turns out Ransh isn't who he claims to be. He starts plotting against Sarah in pretty extreme ways, which makes you realize he's been playing her the whole time. A commando named Raj from the Indian Army ends up saving Sarah from danger, and together they start digging into why Ransh would do something so horrible. The investigation leads them down this crazy rabbit hole of secrets and lies involving Sarah's family.
Everything gets completely flipped on its head when they uncover the truth about who everyone really is and what's been going on behind the scenes. There's a bunch of action and drama as various characters' true motivations come to light. Without spoiling exactly how it all goes down, let's just say the movie takes you on quite the emotional rollercoaster with some serious plot twists that'll keep you guessing about what'll happen next.
