Kismat attempts to weave a morality tale within the constraints of a commercial thriller framework, and while the premise—a hitman's irreversible collision with his own conscience through love—carries genuine dramatic potential, the execution falters under the weight of narrative contrivance and tonal inconsistency. The central conceit of Tony unknowingly eliminating Sapna's father operates as the film's emotional linchpin, yet director's handling of this revelation lacks the gravitas required to justify the elaborate setup. The pharmaceutical corruption subplot feels grafted on for topicality rather than organically integrated, and the romance between Tony and Sapna exists primarily as plot mechanism rather than as a believable emotional arc. The performances, while competent, struggle against a script that oscillates uncertainly between pulp crime drama and romantic melodrama—neither register with sufficient conviction to anchor the audience's investment.

What does work is the film's willingness to explore the irreversibility of violence and the impossibility of redemption through love alone. Storyline

Tony's living that hitman life, working for gangster Vikas Patil who answers to the big-money Raj Mallya—a pharmaceutical crook peddling fake drugs while raking in millions. When the FDA's Dr. Hargobind Gosai starts sniffing around Raj's dodgy operation, Raj gives Tony the order and Tony does what he does best: eliminates the problem. But then everything changes when Tony spots the gorgeous starlet Sapna and falls completely, utterly, madly in love with her.

The universe decides to throw a curveball straight at Tony's face—Sapna's already engaged to Dr. Ajay Saxena, which demolishes him. Then a massive scandal explodes: three kids die from Raj's counterfeit drugs, and somehow all the evidence gets pinned on Hargobind instead of the actual guilty party. No lawyer will touch the case, Hargobind's wife takes her own life in despair, his daughter's engagement gets called off—it's absolutely brutal, a man's entire world collapsing in real time.

Then Tony discovers the devastating truth that'll haunt him forever: Hargobind, the man he murdered to please his boss, is Sapna's father. He's destroyed the family of the only woman he's ever loved and completely torpedoed any chance of a future with her—and there's absolutely no coming back from that.
