Review
Jaadugar arrives with admirable intentions to subvert the well-worn sports drama template, weaving together magic, football, and coming-of-age romance into something that resists easy categorization. The film's refusal to follow the predictable underdog-triumph playbook is genuinely commendable—there's an earnestness here that distinguishes it from the factory-line sports films that dominate Hindi cinema. Jitendra Kumar delivers a committed performance as a character defined by his limitations rather than his heroic potential, and the magic sequences inject moments of genuine wonder into the narrative. However, the film's ambition becomes its undoing; at nearly three hours, it strains under the weight of trying to balance too many thematic threads without achieving coherence. The chemistry between its disparate elements—the magic tricks, the football sequences, the romance—feels forced rather than organic, as if three different screenplays were stitched together without sufficient narrative glue.
The central problem lies in the film's tonal and structural confusion. Where it should feel like a thoughtful exploration of multiple intersecting lives, instead it feels bloated and directionless, exhausting rather than engaging. The director struggles to find a consistent voice; one moment the film is playing as quirky comedy, the next as intimate drama, then as sports chronicle. The climax, while refreshingly grounded compared to genre conventions, doesn't earn its emotional weig
