Jaaved Jaaferi

Born: 4 December 1963

Jaaved Jaffrey is one of Bollywood's most versatile entertainers, having carved out a career spanning nearly four decades as an actor, dancer, comedian, and producer. Born in Mumbai in 1962, he's the son of legendary comedian Jagdeep, and he's inherited his father's comedic timing while building his own distinct identity in Hindi films and television. From his early days in the mid-1980s, Jaffrey has shown impressive range—whether delivering laughs, pulling off dance moves, or taking on dramatic roles. His contributions to the industry have been recognized with life membership from the International Film And Television Club of Asian Academy of Film & Television, and he even served as brand ambassador for India's first International Animation and Cartoon Film Festival in 2015. What makes Jaffrey stand out is his ability to seamlessly blend comedy, dance, and genuine acting chops into memorable performances across multiple mediums. He's not just a one-trick pony—television has loved him as much as cinema has, and he's consistently chosen projects that showcase different facets of his talent. Beyond entertainment, Jaffrey has also ventured into social activism, joining the Aam Aadmi Party in 2014 and contesting parliamentary elections from Lucknow. With three children, including actor Meezaan Jafri who's carrying forward the family legacy in Bollywood, Jaffrey continues to remain relevant in an industry that's constantly evolving, proving that genuine talent and versatility never go out of style.
