4/10Critic Score

A well-intentioned thriller that mistakes melodrama for tension, "Chupke Se" attempts to weave a cautionary tale about predatory modeling industry practices into a narrative that ultimately collapses under the weight of its own contrivances. Director's inability to establish coherent pacing becomes evident in the first act—the "mistaken identity" premise, while potentially compelling, is executed with such telegraphed obviousness that the subsequent "reveal" of Almera's criminal operation lands with a thud rather than a shock. The film's central conceit—that a struggling aspirant would be signed by a legendary modelling agent without even a cursory audition—strains credibility from the outset, and the screenplay never recovers from this foundational weakness. Performance-wise, the cast struggles against wooden dialogue and inconsistent characterisation; what should be morally grey characters instead oscillate between caricature and incompetence.

Where the film marginally salvages itself is in its third act, where it attempts to inject genuine stakes into Megha's predicament. The "David-versus-Goliath" framing has surface appeal, and there are moments where the criminal underworld feels tangibly threatening—but these passages are far too sparse and arrive too late to compensate for 90 minutes of tonal confusion. The director's previous work averaging 5.0/10 suggests a consistent inability to nail genre execution, and this film follows that troubling pattern. The ₹0.6 crore bo

Storyline

Megha's living a completely ordinary life with her parents, dreaming big about becoming a model and beauty queen—but nobody's taking her seriously because, well, she's not exactly turning heads! Then at this swanky party, someone introduces her as "Sarika Verma" by mistake, and suddenly she's chatting up two gorgeous guys, Rizwan and Varun, who actually seem interested! She mentions her modeling dreams, and boom—she gets connected to the legendary Almera Kochar, this powerhouse who's supposedly made every girl she touches into a queen.

Almera takes one look at her and signs her up immediately, way too easily, which should've been Megha's first red flag! Turns out this whole thing is a massive setup—Almera's running some seriously shady operation using models as cover for black market money and criminal activity, and Megha's just signed herself into becoming a pawn in their dangerous game! She has no clue what she's walking into, and that's where things get absolutely wild.

The rest of the film watches Megha navigate this twisted world, discovering the truth behind Almera's operation while trying to hold onto her dreams! She's gotta outsmart these criminals, protect herself and her family, and figure out which of those two charming guys actually has her back! It's the ultimate David-versus-Goliath story wrapped up in Bollywood glamour, and it absolutely delivers on thrills, style, and surprising depth!
