Chandi Sona attempts an intriguing high-concept blend—heist thriller meets creature horror—but stumbles in execution. The premise of stage actors tunneling beneath an island to reach a legendary tomb has genuine potential, and the addition of an ancient creature and Mayadevi's betrayal creates narrative stakes that could have elevated this beyond standard fare. However, the film lacks narrative cohesion; the tone swings erratically between comedic heist banter and survival horror without establishing proper thematic ground. The direction feels scattered, unable to decide whether this is a tongue-in-cheek adventure or a serious supernatural thriller, which ultimately dilutes both registers. The performances are serviceable—the ensemble cast shares decent chemistry, particularly between Mayur and Rita—but they're not given material that demands investment. What could have been a clever meditation on greed versus survival instead becomes a collection of scenes that don't accumulate into anything memorable.
The technical execution further exposes the film's ambitions outpacing its resources. Underwater sequences, crucial to a film centered on diving into an ancient tomb, lack the visual spectacle or claustrophobic tension they demand. The creature design is underwhelming—generic and unconvincing—which substantially undermines the horror elements meant to drive the climax. The screenplay conflates plot twists (Mayadevi's con, the creature's awakening, the convicts' reliability) w
Storyline
Mayur and Rita are stage actors living it up on an island that's basically sitting on a goldmine—literally, there's a legendary tomb of Shahenshah Chandi Sona packed with jewels, diamonds, and gold buried right underneath! They rope in their friend Amar and hatch this brilliant (or so they think) plan to buy a house from a mysterious woman named Mayadevi, build a swimming pool, and tunnel straight through to the tomb. To pull off this heist, they spring four convicts from prison with dramatic flair, and when an underground pool blocks their path, they bring in expert divers Vikram and Sharma to complete the job!
Everything's going according to plan until things get properly messy—and I mean that literally! Beneath the island lurks an ancient creature, hungry and ancient, waiting for some unsuspecting souls to stumble into its territory. Plus, Mayadevi? Total fraud, and she's got her own sinister game running in the background, which means our lovable thieves are now caught between a creature from another era and a woman with seriously twisted motives. The crew's forced to navigate underwater horrors, supernatural danger, and betrayal all at once!
What unfolds is pure chaotic brilliance as the team has to fight for survival while still chasing their fortune—except now it's not just about greed, it's about living to tell the tale! The ancient creature, the hidden agenda, and the underwater chaos create this insane climax where loyalty, courage, and pure dumb luck determine who walks away with the treasure and who doesn't. It's wild, it's got everything—adventure, scares, romance, and that perfect Bollywood energy that makes you root for these flawed characters even when they're literally stealing from a tomb!
