2.5/10Critic Score

"Chaalis Chauraasi" arrives with a premise that sparkles with mischief—the kind of film that promises laughs and thrills in equal measure. What saves this chaotic caper from complete collapse is the earnest commitment of its cast, who throw themselves into the absurdity with genuine enthusiasm. For stretches, the film does manage to keep you entertained through sheer force of personality and playful energy. The actors transform what could have been cardboard characters into something almost believable, and you find yourself riding along with their infectious spirit, at least when the film remembers why you came to watch it in the first place.

However, the promise never quite translates into delivery. The writing falters where it needs to soar, lacking the crisp wit and relentless momentum that a film of this nature demands. Songs interrupt the narrative's fragile rhythm—save for "Hawa Hawa," which actually works—breaking the spell rather than enhancing it. As the film progresses, it spirals into confusion, piling on crooked cops, mobsters, and gunplay without ever finding a coherent through-line. What begins as fun gradually becomes a chore to sit through, the initial charm worn away by a narrative that can't quite hold itself together.
