Rahul Mehta's Review of "1.2"

The premise of "1.2" operates within familiar supernatural horror territory—a vengeful spirit, a possessed child, an exorcist arriving to save the day—yet the film struggles to transcend these well-worn conventions with either narrative originality or thematic depth. The cat-as-harbinger device feels derivative of countless possession films, and while the escalating violence (the drowning sequence, Rashmi's brutal murder) aims for shock value, it often lands as gratuitous rather than purposeful. Director attempts to balance scientific rationalism against spiritual intervention through the parents' conflicting responses, which is a sound thematic approach, but the execution remains surface-level. The performances, particularly from Mini's character, needed more nuance to convey the internal struggle between child and entity—instead, we get theatrical possession moments that prioritize spectacle over psychological authenticity.

What genuinely works is the film's willingness to commit to its supernatural logic and the introduction of Sharji as a more complex exorcist figure who conducts actual investigation rather than rushing into ritualistic theatrics. The backstory of the vengeful mistress adds a layer of justified rage to the haunting, elevating it beyond mere malevolence. Storyline

So this family moves into this gorgeous house and immediately the vibes are off—there's this creepy cat with these unsettling eyes lurking around the basement, and when it gets accidentally crushed under Dad's car, things go from eerie to absolutely terrifying! The dead cat mysteriously reappears, an identical doppelgänger shows up to freak everyone out, and then Mini starts acting incredibly strange—her eyes turn blood-red when she's alone with Deepak by a pond and he nearly drowns! The supernatural possession escalates when Mini brutally kills her classmate Rashmi by twisting her neck at an impossible angle, and even a cop investigating the case meets a grisly end, making it crystal clear that something genuinely evil has taken over their daughter.

Mini's parents are torn between science and the supernatural, so Dad brings in a psychiatrist while Mom consults with their neighbor about finding a real occultist to save their daughter! Enter Sharji, this incredible exorcist who travels to a remote guru to get blessed ashes as a spiritual weapon, and he uncovers the horrifying truth: a vengeful ghost of the previous owner's murdered mistress has been possessing Mini all along, channeling her rage through the innocent girl! The ghost even gets its own revenge, emerging from the bed to kill the man who murdered her in the exact same brutal way she killed Rashmi.

The climax is absolutely wild as Sharji battles the supernatural entity with holy chants and sacred ashes, finally forcing the ghost to release Mini in a thunderous explosion of light and energy! Mini's finally free, the house is cleansed, and the family can actually breathe again, though the doctors' MRI scans and medical tests are still trying to figure out what the heck happened—because some mysteries defy both science and logic, baby!
