6.5/10Critic Score

There's something genuinely intoxicating about watching a woman run toward her own life instead of away from it, and "Yeh Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai" understands this in its bones. The film captures that electric moment when Sarita breaks free from gilded cages and palace politics, and in those early sequences, you feel her breath returning, her pulse quickening. The pageant setting becomes more than backdrop—it's a stage where she can finally choose who to be. The chemistry between Sarita and Sanjay crackles with authenticity; they feel like two people discovering each other in stolen moments, and the performances ground what could have been a superficial romance in genuine vulnerability and longing.

Yet the film stumbles when it tries to juggle too many narratives at once. The fortune-hunters subplot feels rushed, and Sanjay's secret identity reveal lands with less impact than intended—we sense the betrayal coming long before it arrives, which drains some emotional force from the reckoning that follows. The director struggles to maintain momentum during the separation arc; scenes that should devastate instead feel obligatory, as if the film is checking boxes rather than breaking hearts.

What saves the film, ultimately, is its refusal to let Sarita be rescued. She earns her freedom, reclaims her agency, and chooses her love consciously rather than romantically. When truth surfaces and they reunite, it doesn't feel like surrender—it feels like victory. Not every frame lands,

Storyline

Sarita's drowning in royal protocol and suffocating bodyguards, so she bolts—and lands smack in a Miss Universe pageant on her way out! She's desperate to disappear into the competition, hoping to represent India in Paris and finally taste freedom. That's when Sanjay Malhotra swoops in as a Mr. Handsome contestant, and honestly, they click instantly—sparking this electric romance while dodging palace guards at every turn.

But then things get messy because suddenly everyone wants a piece of Sarita, and not for her personality—they're after her family fortune! Sanjay turns out to be hiding secrets of his own, which rocks their whole relationship to its core. The trust crumbles, misunderstandings pile up, and both of them are left wondering if what they had was ever real or just pageant fantasy.

Everything comes crashing down before it can build back up again, but then—plot twist!—all the lies unravel and the truth finally surfaces! Sanjay proves he's genuinely in love with the real Sarita, not the princess or the prize money, and she realizes he'd been protecting her all along. They reunite against all odds, and she gets her freedom on her own terms while keeping the man who actually gets her!
