Rishab Shetty's *Traffic* attempts to channel the urgency of a medical thriller while exploring the moral complexities of organ donation, and it succeeds more often than it falters. The premise—a heart transplant journey from Mumbai to Pune against impossible odds—provides genuine narrative momentum, and Shetty mines considerable emotional depth from the collision of grief, duty, and humanity. The film doesn't shy away from the raw pain of Rehan's parents' initial refusal, treating their resistance not as obstinacy but as the natural, devastating response of a parent losing a child. The technical execution of the road sequence itself is competent, with the mounting obstacles feeling earned rather than contrived, though the pacing occasionally stumbles when the film prioritizes sentiment over narrative tightness.

Where *Traffic* falters is in its handling of secondary characters and the police commissioner's arc, which feels underdeveloped and somewhat tangential to the central tension. The performances are earnest—particularly in the quieter moments between family members—but some supporting turns lack the nuance needed to elevate the material beyond melodrama. The film also struggles with tonal consistency; it wavers between genuine tragedy and something approaching sentimental manipulation, especially in its third act. That said, Shetty deserves credit for attempting a film that prioritizes emotional authenticity over spectacle, even when the execution doesn't always match

Storyline

So basically, this movie revolves around a tragic accident that happens at a busy traffic intersection in Mumbai. A young guy named Rehan, who's just starting out as a journalist, gets hit by a car while riding with his friend, and it leaves him in really bad shape. At the same time, an actor's daughter in a different part of the city is critically ill and desperately needs a heart transplant to survive. It's this crazy coincidence where Rehan's heart could be the perfect match for her.

The thing is, Rehan's parents are initially heartbroken and unwilling to let go of their son's organs, which you can totally understand. But after some convincing from Rehan's best friend and girlfriend about how they could save someone's life, they finally agree to donate. Now here's where it gets really intense — the doctors need to get this heart from Mumbai to Pune quickly, but terrible weather and lack of available flights make it impossible to fly.

So the authorities have to figure out how to transport this organ by road instead, which is way more complicated and risky than anyone expected. A police commissioner gets pulled into this mission even though he's hesitant about the whole thing because of how dangerous and difficult it could be. What unfolds is this really gripping race against time with all these different people trying to make this impossible delivery happen.
