Bhaji, "The Wife" is a textbook example of a supernatural thriller that mistakes jump scares for genuine tension and atmospheric dread for actual storytelling. The premise—young couple moves into haunted apartment, creepy stuff happens—is as stale as yesterday's chai, and the film does precious little to breathe fresh life into it. What could have been a claustrophobic exploration of psychological unraveling instead devolves into a paint-by-numbers haunted house flick with predictable beats and zero originality. The performances are serviceable enough, but even talented actors can't carry a film when the script is this undernourished.
The real problem isn't the supernatural angle itself—it's the complete lack of coherent logic underpinning the narrative. The couple's investigation into the apartment's dark history feels obligatory rather than organic, and when the eventual "truth" emerges, it lands with all the impact of a damp squib. The direction wavers between trying to build genuine unease and relying on cheap scares, creating a tonally confused mess that satisfies neither the cerebral horror fan nor the gore-hungry audience. The film meanders through its runtime without establishing why we should care about these characters or what they're experiencing beyond surface-level spookiness.

Storyline
