Pawan Kripalani's "Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya" stumbles through familiar rom-com territory with a premise that oscillates between genuinely inventive and frustratingly contrived. The central conceit—a fake kidnapping as romantic catalyst—recalls the desperation of early-2000s Bollywood comedies, yet the film occasionally finds its footing when exploring the class dynamics between Mini's privileged indulgence and Viren's grinding struggle. Riteish Deshmukh brings earnestness to what could've been a one-dimensional struggling hero, while Genelia D'Souza attempts to inject some spark into Mini's defiance, though neither performance transcends the formulaic writing. Where the film falters most grievously is in its treatment of the gun-wielding confrontation at the engagement party—a tonal whiplash that suggests the director couldn't decide whether this was a frothy escapade or a genuine drama, ultimately delivering neither convincingly.

The road-trip structure that follows provides natural scope for character development, yet Kripalani largely squanders it on predictable banter and manufactured obstacles that feel recycled from superior entries in the genre—think "Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na" or even "Pyaar Ka Punchnama," both of which balanced humor and heart with far greater dexterity. The chemistry between the leads remains tepid despite their best efforts, and the film's attempt to justify Mini's entitlement through a half-hearted "finding yourself" arc feels patronizing. Storyline

So there's this girl Mini who's basically living the high life on her dad's money, but she absolutely despises the idea of getting married. Her father decides to force her into it anyway with some guy named Sunny who's only interested in her because he wants a Canadian Green Card. Meanwhile, there's this hardworking guy Viren who's been driving a rickshaw and saving up every penny he can because he dreams of opening his own travel agency. Unfortunately, Mini's dad decides to sell off all his rickshaws and buy new cars instead, which means Viren's entire life savings of 60,000 rupees gets lost in the process.

Viren absolutely loses it and shows up at Mini's dad's house one night completely drunk, demanding his money back. He arrives right in the middle of Mini's engagement party to Sunny, and things get pretty chaotic pretty quickly. There's a major confrontation that involves a gun, and honestly it's a total mess, but Mini sees this as her golden opportunity to escape her unwanted wedding.

Mini basically forces Viren to help her out by kidnapping her and putting him behind the wheel of one of her dad's fancy taxis. She makes him a deal – she wants him to demand a ransom of 10 lakh rupees from her father, he gets his original 60,000 rupees back, and she keeps the rest so she can stay away from home and avoid getting married. It's a wild scheme, but both of them are desperate enough to make it work.
