Reema Kagti's *Talaash* is a film that swings ambitiously between the procedural and the metaphysical, succeeding more often than it falters. Aamir Khan delivers a performance of considerable depth as Surjan Singh Shekhawat, a man hollowed out by grief and barely holding together the fragments of his life. The actor doesn't reach for histrionics; instead, he inhabits the role with a quiet deterioration that makes Surjan's internal collapse far more affecting than his external investigation. Kagti's direction captures the murky underbelly of Mumbai with genuine atmosphere, and the film's decision to interweave psychological anguish with noir-tinged crime drama shows real ambition. Where the film occasionally stumbles is in its tonal management—the supernatural elements feel somewhat at odds with the grounded procedural work, and some supporting characters remain underdeveloped despite strong casting choices.

The mystery itself is constructed with care, revealing layers that feel earned rather than imposed. Kareena Kapoor's Rosie brings a vulnerable sensuality to what could have been a stock "escort with secrets" role, while Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Shashi crackles with menace in scenes that linger with you. Storyline

So basically, this bigshot actor named Armaan Kapoor crashes his car into the ocean one night, and it kicks off this whole murder investigation. A tough cop named Surjan gets assigned to figure out what happened, but here's the thing—Surjan is totally messed up because his own kid drowned not long ago, and it's destroying his marriage and his mental health. He's basically sleepwalking through life while trying to solve this case about missing money and blackmail.

As Surjan digs deeper, he discovers that Armaan was mixed up with some shady characters, including a sketchy pimp named Shashi who was blackmailing him. There's also this whole web of escort girls, blackmailers, and cover-ups involving Armaan's wealthy friends. Dead bodies start piling up, and the investigation gets messier as Surjan tries to untangle who's connected to whom and what really went down that night.

Meanwhile, Surjan's wife is turning to a medium who claims to be channeling their dead son's spirit, which Surjan thinks is total nonsense. But as he chases leads and interrogates suspects, including an escort named Rosie who might know more than she's letting on, the case becomes increasingly twisted. There's way more going on than just a simple car accident, and Surjan has to figure out the truth before everything falls apart.
