4.8/10Critic Score

Rohit Shetty's masala sensibilities have spoiled audiences for efficient storytelling, and "Soch Lo" stumbles precisely where such films should soar—in the marriage of amnesia-driven mystery with revenge fantasy. The premise borrows liberally from the amnesiac-hero template (see "Ghajini," "Ek Tha Tiger"), but director Abhinay Deo fails to inject either the propulsive momentum or emotional clarity those films possessed. The central conceit—a nameless drifter becoming a highway robber, then pivoting to detective—feels narratively bloated rather than organically escalating. The performances, particularly the lead's attempted intensity, register as performative rather than visceral; there's no anchor for the audience to grip onto when the protagonist himself doesn't know who he is. The supporting cast of Harry, Toto, and Pali blur into interchangeable comic relief, undermining the camaraderie that should make their bonding sequences resonate.

What "Soch Lo" gets fundamentally wrong is pacing and thematic coherence. The fragmented memories that pepper the narrative—wife, betrayal, darkness—arrive like obligation rather than revelation, each one landing with the impact of a whisper in a thunderstorm. A film like "Raees" understood how to weave parallel narratives of survival and self-discovery; here, the desert sequences feel disconnected from the village melodrama, creating tonal whiplash rather than tension. The climactic unveiling of the "sinister truth" lacks the jaw-drop cap

Storyline

So basically this guy wakes up in the middle of nowhere after some brutal incident left him for dead in the desert. He manages to pull through but his memory is completely wiped—he has no clue who he actually is. Desperate and lost, he starts stealing from drivers on a lonely highway just to survive, turning into kind of a highway robber.

Things take a turn when three local guys named Harry, Toto, and Pali stumble upon him hiding in an old shed. They bring him back to their village and give him the name Baba since nobody knows his real one. Harry makes him an interesting offer—if Baba helps him fight against some powerful local bad guy who's stolen his property, Harry will help him track down his true identity in return.

When Harry doesn't really come through with useful leads, it's Pali who becomes his true ally and they decide to go on this massive adventure together to uncover who Baba really is. Along the way, he keeps having these fragmented memories flash through his mind—images of his wife, moments of violence, feelings of betrayal. But as he digs deeper into his past, he realizes the truth is way darker and more sinister than anything he could've imagined.
