Review
Rohit Shetty's *Singham Again* arrives as a franchise salvage operation, and it largely succeeds in recalibrating what had become a bloated, increasingly cartoonish series. The film strips away the theatrical excess of its predecessor, grounding itself in a more tangible investigation narrative—drug trafficking networks, coastal security breaches, terror threats—that at least gestures toward real-world stakes. Ajay Devgn delivers a surprisingly restrained performance; gone is the smirking invincibility, replaced by a protagonist visibly worn by two years of relentless fieldwork. The supporting cast ensemble (particularly the task force members) provides functional chemistry, though the writing rarely elevates them beyond exposition-delivery vehicles. Shetty's technical precision—the action sequences, the editing rhythm—remains his strongest asset, and the film's first half moves with genuine momentum. What hobbles it is the familiar Shetty formula reasserting itself: emotional beats that land as melodrama rather than catharsis, villain motivations that collapse under scrutiny, and a climax that substitutes spectacle for resolution.
The film's 389-crore haul and 11% ROI suggest commercial resilience rather than audience enthusiasm; it's the kind of performer that benefits from franchise loyalty and holiday timing rather than word-of-mouth momentum. Storyline
Bajirao Singham, now a Delhi police officer with a family, gets stationed in Srinagar where he encounters Omar Hafeez, a vengeful criminal kingpin operating from Sri Lanka. After arresting Omar, Singham learns of a dangerous drug trafficking network funneling narcotics into India's coastal regions, with plans for a massive terror strike. He's tasked with leading a specialized task force alongside fellow officers to dismantle the criminal enterprise threatening the nation.
Two years into his mission, Singham begins dismantling the trafficking operation piece by piece, intercepting shipments and arresting key operatives. His investigation reveals that the drug lord's network extends deeper into Indian territory than initially suspected, with associates hiding across multiple cities. Each arrest brings him closer to understanding the full scope of the conspiracy.
As Singham closes in on the criminal organization, the stakes escalate dramatically. The threat he dismissed years earlier resurfaces in unexpected ways, forcing him to confront not just the criminals, but the personal cost of his mission. His determination to protect the nation will be tested as the investigation takes darker and more dangerous turns.
