Sholay this isn't, but Satte Pe Satta doesn't pretend to be. Rajkumar Kohli's 1974 masala potboiler is exactly what it advertises—a frantic, colorful carnival of mistaken identities, slapstick romance, and implausible plot twists that somehow work because everyone involved is committed to the bit. Amitabh Bachchan carries the film with surprising ease, playing both the rough-hewn Ravi and the duplicitous Babu Sharma with enough swagger to make you forget the absurdity of the premise. Hema Malini is luminous as Indu, and she brings genuine warmth to what could've been a thankless "civilizing influence" role—she actually makes you believe her exasperation with seven unwashed brothers is rooted in something real. The supporting cast, particularly the six brothers and their respective love interests, keeps the energy relentless, even when the script requires them to do nothing but react with wide eyes and wider smiles.

What works is the sheer momentum. Kohli doesn't give you a second to catch your breath or, more importantly, to think too hard about the mechanics of his plot. The climax—where the real Ravi must be rescued from an island while a lookalike assassin impersonates him—is preposterous, yes, but the execution has a kinetic, almost dreamlike quality that carries you through. Storyline

Ravi and his six brothers—Som, Mangal, Budh, Guru, Shukra, and Shani—are rough-around-the-edges farm boys living in complete isolation, more animal than human! When Ravi spots a sharp hospital nurse named Indu, he's instantly smitten, but she finds him utterly repulsive until he cons her into thinking Shani is his only brother and cleans himself up. After they marry, Indu gets the shock of her life discovering five more uncivilized oafs living in the house, but she's determined to transform them all into decent human beings!

The brothers quickly fall head-over-heels for six sisters they meet at the beach, and a lovesick Ravi impulsively helps them kidnap the girls to the farmhouse—much to Indu's fury! When one of the sisters, Seema, turns out to be a wealthy heiress, her evil uncle Ranjit spots an opportunity: he discovers that Ravi looks identical to a hired assassin named Babu Sharma and swaps them, locking the real Ravi away on a remote island while the criminal imposter takes over his life!

Babu slips into Ravi's world perfectly, even fooling Indu when she reveals she's pregnant with Ravi's child, but the brothers and girls eventually catch on to the deception! They race to rescue the real Ravi just in time to stop Babu and Ranjit from murdering innocent Seema, exposing the villains and reuniting Ravi with his family. Love wins, justice triumphs, and suddenly these seven brothers have transformed from barbaric misfits into actual human beings—all thanks to the power of family, friendship, and a good woman's influence!
