Review
There's genuine warmth in the premise of "Sallu Ki Shaadi"—a mother's love transcending even grief, driven by a promise to her late husband. The film understands what audiences crave: emotional resonance, family bonds, the bittersweet journey of letting go. And for stretches, it taps into that vulnerability. The 1989 prologue has real tenderness; watching Zeenat navigate motherhood alone could have anchored the entire narrative with dignity. But somewhere between concept and execution, the film loses its way. The central conflict—a son's absurd vow to remain single because of Salman Khan—feels more like a gimmick than a genuine exploration of grief, duty, or generational disconnect. The performances, while earnest, are hamstrung by writing that mistakes repetition for comedy and contrivance for plot. Storyline
So basically, this movie starts way back in 1989 when two people named Zeenat and Shahnawaz have this cute meet-cute at a cinema watching a Salman Khan flick. They hit it off, get married, and build this beautiful life together with their two kids. But then tragedy strikes when Shahnawaz passes away from cancer, leaving Zeenat to raise their children on her own.
Fast forward about two decades, and now Zeenat is determined to fulfill her late husband's dying wish by finding the perfect bride for their son Sallu and getting him hitched. It's something that would've made her husband really happy, and she's ready to make it happen.
Here's where things get tricky though – Sallu is basically obsessed with the actor Salman Khan and has made this whole vow to stay single as long as his famous namesake does. So you can imagine the chaos that's about to unfold as Zeenat tries to convince her stubborn son to settle down while he's clinging to this ridiculous commitment to an Bollywood star!
