4.8/10Critic Score

Rokkk attempts to blend supernatural horror with a mystery-thriller framework, but stumbles in execution where it matters most. Director Nitin Goel's film borrows heavily from established haunted-house narratives—one can trace DNA to everything from Bhool Bhulaiyaa to international fare like The Conjuring—yet fails to inject any genuine novelty or atmospheric dread into its premise. The dual-sister dynamic, which could have anchored the emotional core, instead becomes a narrative crutch; Anushka's gradual descent into paranoia is undercooked, and the twist involving the house's curse feels arbitrary rather than earned. The film's pacing is erratic, spending too much time on ineffective jump scares while rushing through character motivation. What could have been a thoughtful exploration of gaslighting and familial trust (think along the lines of Raaz's psychological dimensions) devolves into a by-the-numbers supernatural whodunit.

The performances lack the conviction needed to elevate thin material. The lead actress manages moments of genuine vulnerability when dealing with marital doubt, but the supporting cast—particularly the widower husband and the CBI officer—feel like functional plot devices rather than realized characters. The climax's revelation about the asylum and the separated sisters should carry tragic weight, but instead lands with a whimper, as the film has spent too little time developing their bond. Technically, the cinematography is competent but uninspired;

Storyline

So basically, there are these two sisters named Anushka and Ahana, and Anushka marries this older widower guy named Ravi whose first wife Pooja died under mysterious circumstances. Her mom totally disapproves of the marriage, but they move into this new house Ravi bought anyway. Pretty quickly, things start getting super weird and creepy in the house, and Anushka becomes convinced that Ravi doesn't believe her at first. They try moving back to their old place, but the strange stuff keeps happening there too, which really freaks them out.

Anushka starts putting the pieces together and thinks Pooja's ghost might be causing all this chaos. She goes to see this healer who drops a serious bomb—apparently the house itself is cursed, and anyone who walks through its shadow is doomed to have a terrible fate. He gives her some kind of protective amulet, but it's not like a cure, just a shield. Things take a dark turn when Ahana tries investigating what's really going on, and suddenly people start dying. Ahana gets blamed for the murders and ends up locked away in an asylum, separated from her sister.

When Ahana realizes something's seriously wrong, she decides to escape and find her sister. While trying to get away, she meets this CBI officer named Ranvir at a hotel who's actually working on her sister's case. He fills her in on everything that happened and why Anushka disappeared. Ranvir and Ahana decide they're not going to just sit around and do nothing—they're determined to find Anushka and get to the bottom of this curse together, even though pursuing this means they're walking straight into danger themselves.
