4/10Critic Score

"Pyaar Ka Saaya" attempts to straddle the line between romantic melodrama and supernatural thriller, but stumbles awkwardly in both territories. The premise itself has potential—a vengeful ghost guiding a widow toward her husband's killer taps into the paranormal revenge narrative that worked so effectively in films like "Bhool Bhulaiyaa" or even the gothic undertones of "Chandramukhi." However, director fails to establish any genuine atmospheric tension; the supernatural elements feel tacked on rather than integral to the story's core conflict. The performances are serviceable but uninspired—the lead actress conveys grief adequately but never transcends the melodramatic trappings of the script, while the antagonist's villainy is painted in such broad strokes that Vimal reads more as a caricature than a credible threat.

What truly derails "Pyaar Ka Saaya" is the narrative structure, which squanders its most compelling twist (the cousin as conspirator) by revealing it far too early in the second act. The cat-and-mouse game that follows feels repetitive and mechanical, lacking the psychological intrigue that could elevate this beyond standard revenge fare. Compared to the intricate plotting of contemporary thrillers or even the emotional heft of classic Bollywood mysteries, this film's execution feels flat and predictable. The climax arrives without any real surprise or cathartic payoff, and the "redemption and closure" promised in the synopsis materializes so abruptly it feel

Storyline

Avinash inherits his grandfather's sprawling estate while his wastrel cousin Vimal watches from the sidelines, and honestly, these two get along great despite everything! When Avinash discovers a stunning young woman named Gloria illegally renting his countryside home, he falls hard and they marry in an impulsive temple ceremony. They head back to the city as husband and wife, ready to start their life together, but fate has other plans—one night they're brutally attacked and Avinash is murdered, leaving Pooja (Gloria's new name) absolutely shattered.

Months later, a mysterious fortune-teller named Maya Gangadhami approaches the grieving widow with a chilling message: Avinash's ghost has been trying to reach her and warns that his killer is coming for her too! Pooja brushes it off and confides in Vimal, thinking her cousin-in-law will comfort her, but here's the twist that hits like a ton of bricks—Vimal hired the killer himself to grab the inheritance! Now he just needs to tie up his loose end by having Pooja killed, and without proof of their marriage, no one will ever know she existed.

Everything spirals into a game of cat and mouse as Vimal orchestrates her downfall while Pooja slowly pieces together the truth. The supernatural warnings become terrifyingly real when she realizes the danger is coming from inside her own family! In the end, justice prevails as the truth emerges and Vimal faces the consequences of his greed, while Pooja finds redemption and closure in remembering the love she shared with Avinash.
