Nirvana Inn positions itself as a psychological thriller with ambitions toward Hitchcockian suspense, and it partially succeeds on that front. Adil Hussain anchors the film with a genuinely compelling performance, particularly when the narrative dives into his character's fractured mental landscape. Director manages to weave in enough genre conventions and clever twists to keep things moving, and there's clear effort to channel the manipulative storytelling techniques that made classic thrillers work. However, the film struggles to maintain the balance between surface-level entertainment and deeper character work—when it leans too heavily into plot mechanics, it loses the psychological tension that makes Hussain's troubled protagonist so watchable.

The script draws liberally from familiar thriller playbook, and while that approach proves effective in patches, it also exposes the film's creative limitations. There's entertainment value in what's on screen, particularly for viewers who appreciate the genre's conventional beats executed with style. But the inconsistency between the film's two modes—introspective character study and mechanical plot machinery—prevents Nirvana Inn from reaching the heights it clearly aspires to. It's a film that knows what it wants to be but doesn't quite commit fully to either vision, landing somewhere in an unsatisfying middle ground.
