4/10Critic Score

What a mess of a film that could have been so much fun. "Nehlle Pe Dehlla" takes a premise brimming with potential—two bumbling crooks stumbling into a murder mystery and treasure hunt—and manages to squander it through lazy storytelling and a direction that never finds its rhythm. The bones of a rollicking heist-comedy are there, but the execution is painfully scattered. The film lurches from blackmail schemes to corpse-hiding hijinks to romance to mob chases without ever letting any thread breathe or connect meaningfully with the audience. You want to root for Jimmy and Johnny, you genuinely do, but the performances feel undercooked, like the actors themselves aren't entirely sure what tone the film is aiming for. The romantic subplots with Puja and Kim feel tacked on, stealing screen time from what could have been a tighter crime caper, and the chemistry between the leads and their love interests never justifies the emotional investment the film demands.

What disappoints most is how the film squanders its opportunities for genuine comedy or real stakes. The direction never commits—is this a laugh-out-loud comedy, a thriller, or a romance? It tries to be all three and ends up being none convincingly. The mobster subplot, which should crackle with danger, feels perfunctory; the treasure hunt, which should grip you, meanders. There are moments—a few genuine laughs, a couple of well-timed set pieces—that hint at what could have been, but they're drowned out by bloated runtime

Storyline

So there's this pair of small-time crooks named Jimmy and Johnny who are always getting arrested for petty crimes. They hear about this hotel manager who's stolen a massive amount of money, and they think it's their golden ticket to becoming rich. They manage to get jobs at the hotel as waiters so they can blackmail the guy, but things go sideways when a dangerous gang of mobsters shows up and kills the manager before they can execute their plan.

When Johnny and Jimmy discover the manager's dead body, they come up with this wild scheme to pretend he's still alive while they figure out who actually murdered him. During all this chaos, Johnny ends up meeting the manager's niece Puja, and Jimmy gets close to her friend Kim. Both guys end up falling for these women pretty hard. Eventually they track down the real killers and discover a map that leads them to the stolen money, which kicks off this whole treasure hunt situation with the mobsters chasing after the same prize.

The hunt becomes this crazy race between the guys and the mob to find the cash first. When they finally locate it, the mobsters have already gotten their hands on it, so there's this whole mission to track them down and get it back. Things get pretty intense when the mobsters start using threats and kidnapping to keep the stolen money, but eventually help arrives and justice gets served. In the end, our guys manage to turn their lives around and find happiness with the women they love.
