5/10Critic Score

*Mumbai Delhi Mumbai* arrives as a well-intentioned romantic comedy that understands the geography of modern Indian love stories but stumbles when it comes to narrative coherence. The film's central premise—a woman stranded in an unfamiliar city who finds unexpected connection—echoes the charm of *Delhi Belly* and *Pyaar Ka Punchnama*, yet lacks the sharp wit and observational humor that made those films memorable. The chemistry between the leads carries stretches of the middle act, particularly during their city-exploration sequences, which offer genuine moments of warmth. However, the screenplay feels fragmented, rushing through character development to reach plot points that feel more contrived than earned. Director Anu Menon shows competence in staging the lighter moments, but the tonal shifts—especially toward the climactic "twist"—undermine the emotional investment built thus far.

What derails *Mumbai Delhi Mumbai* most is its inability to justify its own narrative choices. The convenient plotting device of the lost wallet, the convenient arrival of Goli, and especially the film's later revelation feel less like organic story progression and more like screenplay shortcuts. The performances are serviceable—there's earnestness in how the leads convey their characters' initial reluctance and gradual warming—but they're confined by a script that doesn't give them substantial material to work with. The film tries to comment on urban independence and regional differences, ye

Storyline

So there's this girl Pia from Mumbai who's super independent and kind of reluctant about this whole arranged marriage thing her family set up in Delhi. She heads to Delhi to meet this guy Sidharth, but honestly she's already planning to say no. Things go sideways when she loses her wallet and phone during a chaotic auto-rickshaw ride, leaving her pretty much stranded in a city she doesn't know.

That's when this charming Delhi guy named Goli shows up and helps her out. They start hanging out and exploring the city together, and there's this really fun dynamic where they're basically from different worlds. As they spend time together, they start learning so much about each other's cities and lifestyles, and they're constantly bantering and having these sweet moments that make you realize they're connecting on a deeper level.

As Pia's time in Delhi comes to an end, she's heading back to Mumbai when something pretty wild happens that completely changes everything. The movie takes this interesting turn where things aren't quite what they seemed, and there's this proposal moment that totally catches Pia off guard. It's one of those plot twists that makes you go "wait, what?" and you're left wondering how everything's going to play out from there!
