5/10Critic Score

There's something almost endearing about the chaos at the heart of this film—a tangled web of mistaken identities and Facebook confusion that should feel contrived but somehow manages to capture that peculiar magic of college friendships and unspoken feelings. Vishal and Preity's journey from antagonism to something deeper has genuine warmth, and you can feel the screenplay *trying* to say something about how we hide behind screens and personas, never quite brave enough to show our true selves. The performances have their moments—there's a chemistry born not from grand gestures but from the small, awkward conversations and the way two people slowly realize they've been talking to each other all along. However, the film struggles with pacing; what begins as a clever premise becomes repetitive, and by the time the emotional beats should land, we've already seen the same misunderstanding played out too many times. The supporting characters, particularly Rahul and Malvika, feel like chess pieces moved around rather than people with their own arcs, and the direction doesn't quite have the finesse to elevate the material beyond its gimmick.

The fundamental problem is that "Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge" wants to be clever about modern romance but doesn't trust its own story enough to let it breathe. For every moment where the film understands the vulnerability of unrequited love and hidden identities, there's another where it resorts to tired comedy beats. You'll connect with Vishal's

Storyline

So there are these two college students, Vishal and Preity, who absolutely can't stand each other. Vishal's best friend Rahul is this super charming guy who's always getting attention from girls, but here's the thing—Vishal's the one secretly writing all his song lyrics and never getting any recognition for it. Meanwhile, Preity's busy running the Photography Club and crushing hard on Rahul, while Vishal's got his eyes on Malvika, who's this gorgeous fashion design student living with Preity and her mom.

The whole thing gets messy because both Vishal and Malvika keep ignoring friend requests on Facebook from people they're not interested in. So Vishal gets the genius idea to send Malvika a request using Rahul's account, but she just ignores it thinking Rahul's being too forward. However, Preity secretly logs into Malvika's account and accepts the request, thinking she's actually chatting with Rahul himself. Now we've got this wild situation where Vishal's pretending to be Rahul while talking to someone he thinks is Malvika, but he's actually chatting with Preity who's pretending to be Malvika!

Eventually their friends figure out what's going on and basically force Rahul and Malvika to actually go out on a date to see if they click in real life. Turns out they have way more in common than anyone expected and actually start genuinely liking each other. The whole group ends up going on this double date situation where the mix-ups continue, and meanwhile the college is throwing this big celebration with some kind of festival happening.
