Review
Jeethu Joseph's "Mr Joe B. Carvalho" is a film that wears its heart on its sleeve, attempting to blend slapstick comedy with international thriller tropes—a gambit that yields uneven but frequently entertaining results. Abhishek Bachchan inhabits the titular bumbler with genuine charm, displaying commendable timing in scenes that demand physical comedy and befuddled bewilderment. The premise itself—a mistaken identity plot involving terrorists, crime lords, and a former flame turned police officer—has the scaffolding of a solid comedy-thriller, and there are genuine moments where the pieces click together. Darshan Kumaar as Carlos brings a certain steely menace, and the supporting cast largely understands the assignment of playing things with straight faces while absurdity unfolds around them.
Where the film stumbles is in its pacing and narrative discipline. The script often mistakes frenetic activity for actual momentum, piling complications onto Joe without allowing scenes to breathe or build proper comic tension. Some gags land splendidly—particularly those early on—while others feel stretched beyond their natural comedic lifespan. The second half, burdened with plot resolution, loses some of the anarchic energy that made the first half engaging, settling instead into more predictable thriller beats. Joseph demonstrates capable direction of ensemble chaos, but the film needed either tighter editing or a leaner screenplay to truly sing.

Storyline
So there's this private detective Joe who's basically a bumbling, not-very-sharp guy just trying to catch a break and make some real money. A wealthy businessman named Khurana offers him a job to track down his runaway daughter, which seems like the perfect opportunity for Joe to finally get his big break and turn his life around.
Things get hilariously complicated when Joe's ex-girlfriend, who's now a police inspector named Shantipriya, shows up chasing an actual international terrorist named Carlos who's plotting something dangerous in the city. A local crime boss named MK gets involved too, but he's got his own sneaky agenda and plans to betray Carlos rather than help him.
The whole situation spirals into chaos when Joe somehow gets confused for the terrorist and ends up in a hotel room with both the criminal and his ex. Now everyone's after poor Joe—the crime boss, the inspector, and he's convinced he's found the right girl but he's actually spying on the wrong person. It's a classic case of mistaken identity and mayhem!
