Review
Moh Maya Money stumbles through what could have been a grounded domestic thriller about middle-class desperation, but instead delivers a half-baked melodrama that mistakes intensity for genuine storytelling. The premise—a couple spiraling into financial ruin and moral compromise—has real potential, but the execution is sloppy. Director Reema Yadav lacks the deft touch needed to balance the couple's intimate relationship fractures with the external pressure cooker of debt and violence. The tonal shifts are jarring; one moment we're watching a marriage crumble over reproductive autonomy and lies, the next we're in B-grade goon-thriller territory with cardboard villains and unconvincing threats. Neither registers as truly compelling because the film refuses to fully commit to either lane.
The performances feel stranded by weak material. There's a seed of something interesting in how Divya makes an abortion decision without telling Aman—that's genuinely provocative and speaks to real fissures in modern relationships. But the film treats this as a plot device rather than exploring what it actually means for their marriage. Aman's descent into desperation could have been tragic, instead it comes across as the whining of a man who made obviously terrible decisions and expects sympathy. The chemistry between leads never justifies the stakes we're supposedly invested in, and by the time Raghuveer shows up with his goons, you've already checked out. The third act attempts drama but de
Storyline
So basically, Aman and Divya are this couple trying to make it in Delhi, but Aman's got this obsession with getting rich quick. He works at a real estate company and starts cutting corners to make some fast cash. He borrows money from this sketchy guy and uses it to buy a plot of land, thinking he's finally going to give them the fancy lifestyle they deserve. But then his boss finds out he's been dishonest and fires him on the spot. Talk about bad timing, right?
Meanwhile, Divya's got her own thing happening at her media job—she finds out she might be going to Hong Kong, which is exciting. But then she discovers she's pregnant, and she's not happy about it. She decides to secretly go through with an abortion without telling Aman, which shows how much pressure and conflict is brewing between them. When Aman shows her the land he bought, he's pretending everything's fine with his job, but he's actually in serious trouble.
Here's where it gets really stressful—Aman can't get his money back from the land deal, and now he owes this dangerous guy Raghuveer a huge amount. The lender starts threatening him, sends his goons after him, and beats him up when Aman misses the deadline. Divya finds out about everything when she spots him in the hospital, and now both of them are caught up in this mess. Raghuveer shows up at their house demanding payment, giving them just a week to come up with the cash, and Aman's desperately trying to figure out how to fix this nightmare.
