Kangana Ranaut carries this familiar romantic comedy with an infectious energy that elevates material that, on paper, feels like a well-worn template. The premise—a spirited young woman caught between two men bearing the same name—could have been merely cute in lesser hands, but director Shusti Mohsin squeezes genuine charm from the confusion, and the chemistry between Ranaut and Ranbir Kapoor crackles with a playfulness that justifies the film's runtime. Where it stumbles is in the execution of its central conflict; the love triangle never quite develops the emotional stakes it promises, content instead to coast on comic timing rather than explore the moral complexity of Sanjana's situation. The supporting cast, particularly the parents, veers occasionally into caricature, and the script's resolution feels more like capitulation than genuine catharsis.

What saves "Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon" from anonymity is its refusal to take itself too seriously in an era when romantic dramas often mistake melodrama for depth. Ranaut's performance oscillates between vulnerability and mischief with commendable control, and there are stretches—particularly in the early "meet-cute" sequences—where the film achieves a lightness that feels earned rather than imposed. Storyline

So basically, this girl Sanjana just finished college and is totally against the whole arranged marriage thing, which drives her mom absolutely crazy. Her older sister who's living abroad reaches out to say that her friend Prem—this super successful businessman guy—saw Sanjana's picture and wants to meet her. Sanjana's not thrilled about it, but she agrees to give it a shot anyway.

When Sanjana first meets Prem, she absolutely can't stand him because he's so peppy and outgoing, so she starts messing with him for fun. But as they spend more time together, something clicks and they actually develop real feelings for each other. Her parents are over the moon about the whole thing because they love him too. Then Prem has to head back to America for work, and he promises he'll return soon.

Here's where things get messy—it turns out there was actually a mix-up with who came back to India! The guy who showed up wasn't the wealthy businessman Prem that everyone was expecting, but rather Prem, an employee who works for that same company. When the real wealthy Prem eventually arrives, he starts getting close to Sanjana too, and her mom starts pushing her in his direction. Now Sanjana's stuck in this complicated situation with feelings pulling in different directions while everyone around her has their own ideas about what should happen.
