Review
Loveyapa arrives as a dutiful but soulless remake of the Tamil original Love Today, transplanting its narrative framework without understanding what made the source material resonate. The film's fundamental problem isn't conceptual ambition but rather the execution—the casting, while sensible on paper, fails to generate the chemistry needed to carry what is essentially a familiar story. Pacing issues further derail the experience; the comedic timing feels hesitant and irregular, unable to maintain momentum across the film's runtime. Beneath layers of melodrama and predictability, the original premise gets lost entirely, leaving viewers with an overwhelming sense of squandered potential. What emerges is less a reimagining and more a paint-by-numbers translation that forgets why audiences connected with the story in the first place.
The performances offer glimpses rather than full realizations. Khan delivers competent work in stretches, while Kapoor's natural instincts for romantic comedy occasionally break through—suggesting latent promise even if the execution here feels uneven. Desai's dialogue script occasionally sparkles with genuine wit, providing brief moments of levity in an otherwise underdeveloped screenplay. Yet these scattered strengths never coalesce into something greater; the film remains a collection of isolated moments rather than a unified whole. For a remake that hinges entirely on charm and romantic rapport, the absence of genuine chemistry proves fatal.

Storyline
So basically, this movie is about Baani and Gaurav, this super connected couple who are totally glued to their phones like most people our age. Things get interesting when Baani's dad, who's pretty old-school and doesn't really trust modern relationships, decides to put them through this wild test. He makes them swap their unlocked phones for a whole night so they can see everything—texts, photos, social media, literally everything on each other's devices. The couple thinks they're totally fine with it since they believe they've got nothing to hide from each other.
But here's where it gets messy. Once they actually start snooping through each other's phones, they start finding stuff that makes them super uncomfortable and suspicious. Gaurav discovers some pretty questionable things about Baani's past and her online activities, while Baani finds out that Gaurav has been sending flirty messages to other girls and is even part of some sketchy group chats. It's basically a relationship stress test where their trust gets seriously tested.
Meanwhile, Gaurav's sister Kiran is dealing with her own relationship drama with her boyfriend Anupam, who works as a dentist. When Gaurav questions why she's with him, Kiran explains that Anupam treats her with respect and is genuinely trustworthy, which is what really matters to her in a partner.
