Rajesh Mapuskar's "Lamhaa" arrives with genuinely ambitious intentions—a spy thriller set against the volatile backdrop of Kashmir that seeks to explore the murky intersection of intelligence work, political intrigue, and moral compromise. The premise itself has merit: an undercover operative masquerading as a journalist, piecing together a puzzle of violence through encounters with a resourceful tailor, a woman named Aziza, and various political figures. Emraan Hashmi carries the film with a measured intensity, avoiding his typical mannerisms to embody a man torn between duty and conscience. The cinematography captures Kashmir's stark beauty effectively, and there are moments—particularly in the investigative sequences—where the film finds genuine traction in building suspense and atmosphere.

However, the execution falters where the narrative complexity demands precision. The script loses momentum in its second half, oscillating between heavy-handed exposition and rushed character development that leaves Aziza's arc feeling undercooked and Aatif's political machinations somewhat contrived. The supporting players, while earnest, struggle to elevate dialogue that often prioritizes messaging over natural conversation. Mapuskar's direction, though competent in staging action and establishing mood, doesn't quite synthesize the film's thematic ambitions—the tension between spycraft, local politics, and personal ethics remains intellectually present but emotionally distant. Storyline

So basically, this Indian spy guy named Vikram gets sent to Kashmir on a secret mission by military intelligence. He's pretending to be a journalist named Gul Jahangir while actually working undercover to figure out who's responsible for all the violence happening there. He has to blend in and investigate some really risky locations without blowing his cover.

While he's doing his detective work, Vikram teams up with this tailor character who's got connections everywhere—the guy literally sells uniforms to both the military and the militant groups, so he knows everyone's business. This makes him pretty useful for getting information and access to places a normal person couldn't reach.

Throughout his time there, Vikram meets various important people including a woman named Aziza, her mentor Haji, and this up-and-coming political figure called Aatif. Through all these interactions and his investigations around different parts of Kashmir, he slowly starts piecing together the puzzle to uncover exactly who's orchestrating all the violence in this stunning but incredibly dangerous region.
