Review
There's a restlessness that haunts *Kucch To Hai*—the kind that comes when a film tries desperately to be two stories at once and ends up diminishing both. The first half, a messy college romance tangled with youthful recklessness, has genuine moments of connection, particularly in how it captures that ache of unrequited love through Natasha's quiet suffering. The heist itself is impulsive and morally murky in ways that feel honest to how young people actually rationalize their choices. But when the professor tumbles off that cliff, something shifts awkwardly. The transition from coming-of-age dramedy to revenge thriller isn't a natural evolution—it's a jolt, like watching two different films spliced together. The director shows competence in intimate scenes but struggles with the mechanical plotting required for a proper whodunit, leaving the second half feeling obligatory rather than inevitable.
What salvages this film from complete fragmentation is the performances, which carry an authenticity that the script sometimes doesn't deserve. There's vulnerability here that registers emotionally, even when the narrative mechanics creak. The reunion sequence crackles with genuine tension as old secrets resurface, and you can feel how these characters are trapped not just by a killer, but by the weight of what they've collectively done. Yet the mystery itself becomes predictable; the killer's identity lands with less impact than the filmmakers intended, and the final twist doesn't
Storyline
So basically, there's this guy Karan who's been best friends with Natasha since they were kids, except Natasha's secretly had feelings for him forever. But then Karan gets all caught up with this new girl named Tanya who just joined their college. Meanwhile, there's this creepy professor at the school who everyone whispers about because apparently he killed his wife, and a charming troublemaker named Yash befriends Karan and starts helping him chase after Tanya.
To win Tanya over, Karan comes up with this crazy plan to break into Professor Bakshi's house and steal the exam answers for her. He brings along Natasha, Yash, and a couple of other friends to help pull off the heist. But things go absolutely sideways when they discover something horrifying in the professor's place, leading to a chase that ends with Professor Bakshi getting hit by their car and falling off a cliff. Scared out of their minds, they all bail and try to move on with their lives.
Fast forward a bunch of years, and the whole friend group reunites at a wedding, thinking they can finally put the past behind them. But that's when things get really dark and twisted. Someone wearing a black hood and carrying a wicked curved knife starts hunting them down one by one, picking them off. It becomes this intense mystery where they're all trying to figure out who the killer is and how they can survive this nightmare.
