Sanjay Kundu's "Krishna Cottage" arrives as a half-baked supernatural thriller that confuses atmosphere with actual storytelling. The premise—a cursed book, a mysterious cottage, vengeful spirits—has promise, but the execution is painfully clumsy. The film mistakes jump scares and dimly-lit corridors for genuine dread, while the narrative meanders between supernatural horror and a love triangle nobody asked for. The performances feel phoned in; the actors seem to be just as confused about what they're supposed to be scared of as the audience. What could have been an effective campus horror tale instead becomes a tedious exercise in wasting a decent setup. The direction lacks the finesse needed to build tension—every scare feels manufactured, every revelation predictable.

The central concept of a forbidden book as a plot device isn't inherently bad, but the film squanders it by never exploring the mythology convincingly. We're supposed to believe that a college principal hides an entire book because of its dangers, yet the consequences unfold so inconsistently that you stop caring who lives or dies. Sushant Singh's earnest attempt to carry the film is undermined by a script that gives him little to work with. Even the supposedly "creepy" Krishna Cottage setting feels like a generic haunted house prop rather than a character itself. The chemistry between the friend group is non-existent, making their supposed bonds feel hollow when the horror supposedly brings them together.

Storyline

So basically, this movie starts with a professor launching this mysterious book of short stories at a college event, and it's kind of a big deal. But then a year later, the college principal gets super sketchy about it and hides the book away in some dusty storeroom. Fast forward and you've got this tight group of college friends who seem like they've got their lives figured out, until this new girl Disha shows up and starts hanging around them.

Things get weird pretty quickly when the friend group decides to drive Disha home after Manav's engagement party. Their car crashes into this weird ice wall that literally disappears right after, and they're stuck for the night at this creepy old place called Krishna Cottage. That's when supernatural stuff starts going down, and Disha drops the bomb that her dead boyfriend's spirit might be the one causing all the chaos and destruction.

The plot thickens when one of the friends starts reading this forbidden book to try and win Disha over with some romantic lines, but it turns out the book comes with some seriously dark consequences. People start getting hurt, and our friend group realizes they've stumbled onto something dangerous that the college administration has been actively trying to keep hidden.
