5/10Critic Score

There's a kernel of something genuinely compelling buried within *Knock Out*—the premise of a man trapped in a phone booth, at the mercy of an unseen voice demanding he become a vessel for justice, has the potential to be a taut psychological thriller that examines power, corruption, and moral compromise. And for stretches, the film does tap into that tension. The central conceit, borrowed from the Hollywood template but reimagined for a Bollywood audience grappling with real anxieties about black money and systemic corruption, speaks to something in our collective conscience. The performances have moments of authenticity, particularly when the protagonist must convey desperation through confined physicality and the voice in his ear becomes his entire universe. Yet the execution falters under the weight of its own ambitions—the direction struggles to sustain the claustrophobic pressure, the plot mechanics creak loudly when they should whisper, and what could have been a meditation on complicity becomes a more conventional thriller that relies on shock value rather than earned emotional investment.

The film's greatest failure is that it never quite decides what it wants to be. Is it a commentary on corruption? A cat-and-mouse game? A study of one man's spiritual awakening? The screenplay tries to be everything and becomes nothing with particular resonance. The supporting characters, including the journalist documenting the crisis, feel more like narrative requiremen

Storyline

So basically, there's this guy Bachubhai who gets trapped in a phone booth when an unknown caller won't let him leave. The caller has some serious leverage—he's got a sniper positioned nearby and proves it by shooting someone right in front of everyone. Now there's police everywhere, a news reporter named Nidhi documenting everything, and Bachubhai's caught between following the mysterious caller's orders or getting shot. It's this intense standoff situation that nobody can figure out.

Turns out Bachubhai works for this corrupt politician who's been hoarding a massive amount of black money. The mysterious caller is forcing him to transfer all that stolen cash back to a government account so it can be returned to the people. While the police are scrambling to figure out what's happening and bringing in their best people to handle the crisis, Bachubhai's just doing whatever the voice on the phone tells him to do. It's like he's a puppet being controlled from the shadows.

Without giving away how things wrap up, let me just say that the whole situation leads to some pretty wild revelations. You've got this cat-and-mouse game going on with high stakes, plenty of action, and twists that keep you guessing about who's really calling the shots and what their true agenda actually is. It's a pretty gripping thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat!
