7/10Critic Score

What a refreshing slap to the face of convention this film turns out to be—not because it preaches about gender equality, but because it genuinely lives it through the messy, real complications that arise when you actually try to flip the script. Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan bring an effortless chemistry that makes you believe these two aren't just partners in an ideology, but partners in the truest sense—two people trying to navigate love when society keeps insisting there's only one correct way to do it. Director Balaji Mohan understands what many films about progressive themes miss: the heart of the story isn't the revolution itself, but how it fractures under the weight of ego, ambition, and the very human tendency to sabotage what we love most. The performances are genuinely engaging, with both leads capturing those tiny moments of vulnerability that matter far more than any grand speech could.

Yet the film doesn't entirely escape the trap of its own messaging. In the second half, when tension creeps in and Kabir's rise begins to mirror Kia's initial climb, the narrative stumbles—it becomes preachy rather than lived-in, spelling out the irony instead of letting us feel it deeply. The father-in-law's resistance, while necessary, feels somewhat predictable, and the resolution, though honest, arrives with a slight sense of obligation rather than inevitability. What works brilliantly is the core examination of how even the most evolved relationships can become about

Storyline

So basically, there's this super ambitious woman named Kia who's totally focused on climbing the corporate ladder and inspiring other women to do the same. Then she meets Kabir, who's this chill guy from a wealthy family but honestly couldn't care less about taking over his dad's business. They hit it off as friends and eventually fall in love, realizing their goals actually complement each other perfectly.

They decide to get married and flip the traditional script entirely—Kabir stays home managing everything domestically while Kia becomes the primary earner and focuses on her career. Her father-in-law is pretty upset about the whole arrangement, but they go for it anyway. Kia absolutely crushes it in her professional life and starts getting media attention, so naturally she talks about her unconventional marriage and her husband's role in making it all work.

This interview catches fire because Kabir's perspective on gender roles really resonates with people. Suddenly he's getting invited everywhere to give talks and seminars about modern relationships and equality. But here's where things get complicated—all these public appearances and his growing popularity start creating tension between them, and Kia begins feeling like maybe their relationship has just become a stepping stone for his newfound fame.
