There's a compelling thriller buried somewhere within *Khel*, waiting to break free from the melodrama that suffocates it. The premise—a wealthy man's obsession turning into calculated manipulation and murder—has the bones of something genuinely dark and psychologically complex. Dev's descent from charming suitor to revealed villain could have been Bollywood's answer to a proper psychological thriller, but instead, the film treats his crimes more like a romantic complication than the moral catastrophe they are. The direction doesn't trust the audience to feel the weight of betrayal and deception; instead, it spells everything out with heavy-handed dialogue and predictable plot turns.
