Anurag Kashyap's "Kaashi in Search of Ganga" arrives with a genuinely compelling premise—a missing persons mystery wrapped around class conflict and criminal networks—but stumbles considerably in execution. The core investigation framework is taut enough, and the reveal that Ganga's disappearance is tied to an affair with a don's son carries real dramatic weight. However, the film's pacing becomes erratic once it pivots toward the courtroom drama in its second half. The performances, particularly from the lead, feel serviceable rather than lived-in; there's a brittleness to Kaashi's emotional arc that should resonate as tragedy but instead reads as performative. Devina functions as little more than a plot device dressed as a character, and the supporting cast never transcends their archetypal roles.
