Storyline

Filmmaker Atul Manjrekar's latest release is set against one of independent India's darkest chapters—the 1984 anti-Sikh riots that erupted in Delhi following Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's assassination. The narrative unfolds over three harrowing days in the Trilokpuri neighborhood on the city's east side, where the immediate aftermath of her killing by two Sikh bodyguards becomes a catalyst for communal violence targeting an entire religious community.

The film traces the unraveling of an ordinary Sikh family's world as news of Gandhi's death spreads through the city. What begins as a normal morning—children heading to school, women preparing breakfast—transforms into a nightmare as mobs take to the streets. Sikhs are hunted down based on their recognizable appearance and their names in electoral rolls, with local political figures allegedly fueling the violence. The brutality escalates rapidly, with businesses torched and innocent lives claimed in scenes of graphic communal fury.

As the violence spirals across the neighborhood, families desperately search for safety while neighbors resort to drastic measures to protect their children. The film captures the chaos and moral collapse of a society consumed by rage, examining how quickly normalcy can vanish and how identity becomes a death sentence in moments of mass hysteria.
