6.5/10Critic Score

"Jhoothi" is a film that understands the comedic potential of its central premise—a compulsive liar with a good heart—and mostly executes it with charm and warmth. The story's foundation is solid: watching Kalpana's elaborate fabrications unravel across her family's romantic entanglements creates genuine moments of both humor and heart. Director Meher Rampal has crafted something that feels earnest in its exploration of how good intentions can pave roads to chaos, and there's a lightness to the storytelling that prevents it from becoming heavy-handed. The family dynamics, particularly the interplay between siblings, have an authentic feel that elevates what could have been a standard rom-com setup.

Where the film struggles is in its execution and pacing. The second act feels bloated with repetitive misunderstandings—we get the joke early, but it takes the narrative far too long to evolve beyond it. Some of the comedic beats land brilliantly, while others feel forced or rely too heavily on slapstick rather than character-driven humor. The romance between Kalpana and Anil, which should be the emotional core, develops unevenly; their chemistry is present but the script doesn't give them enough meaningful scenes to make their connection feel earned before the climactic revelation.

What truly saves "Jhoothi" is its heart. The performances carry genuine warmth, and there's a sweetness to the resolution—the idea that love and understanding can exist beneath layers of dishonesty—th

Storyline

Kalpana's this wonderfully chaotic tomboy living with her mom, her sweet sister Alpana, and her cop brother Kamal—and honestly, she's a compulsive liar but like, always with the best intentions! She's constantly spinning wild stories to help people around her, which obviously backfires in the messiest, funniest ways. While she's busy playing matchmaker for her siblings—setting Kamal up with Seema and pushing Alpana toward this guy Rasik—she's completely oblivious to the fact that she's falling hard for Dr. Anil herself!

Her lies get increasingly elaborate as she tries to hide her feelings for Anil from everyone, especially her nosy family, and of course everything spirals into absolute chaos. The misunderstandings pile up so beautifully—her fabrications keep tangling her siblings' love lives in unexpected knots, and Anil's confused about whether she's genuinely interested or just messing with his head. She's stuck between wanting to protect her family's honor while also desperately trying to keep her own secret romance under wraps!

But here's where it gets perfect—Anil eventually sees through her lies and falls for her anyway, because he realizes all her deception comes from a place of pure heart. Her family finally figures out what's been happening, and instead of being mad, they see how much she cares about making everyone happy, even at the cost of her own honesty. It all comes together in this satisfying way where Kalpana learns that being genuine is way more powerful than any story she could invent!
