Review

4/10Critic Score

This film is a textbook example of a promising premise collapsing under the weight of lazy execution. The core idea—an alien woman searching for love on Earth—has genuine comedic potential, and in the right hands, could've been a charming, quirky romance. But director Kapoor squanders it entirely. The writing feels like it was workshopped in a single afternoon, with dialogue that lands with all the grace of a brick and comedic timing so off that you'll check your watch repeatedly. Rajesh's character arc is painfully predictable, and the chemistry between him and Tara feels manufactured rather than organic—there's no spark, no wit, just two actors going through motions. Even the supporting cast can't salvage this; they're all doing their best with material that doesn't deserve their effort.

What truly baffles me is how the film wastes its own novelty. The Venus-woman angle could've allowed for sharp satire about Bollywood's obsession with perfection and impossible beauty standards, but instead, we get tired romantic comedy beats dressed up in sci-fi clothing. The scenes meant to be comedic drag endlessly, while the emotional beats between Rajesh and Tara feel rushed and unearned. Farah Khan's presence feels like a cameo that adds nothing; it's the kind of stunt casting that screams "we don't have faith in this story." The climax is predictable to the point of insult, and the resolution feels like the writers simply gave up and reached for the nearest Bollywood cliché.

Storyline

So there's this guy Rajesh living in Mumbai who's basically had zero luck with women his entire life, which is pretty rough. He works on film sets with Farah Khan and comes from a loaded family, but his romantic prospects are pretty much nonexistent. Things get even messier when he develops a crush on this actress named Natasha, only to get totally shot down. Just when he's feeling particularly sorry for himself at a drive-in movie, this absolutely stunning woman literally falls into his lap and passes out cold!

When the mysterious woman wakes up, Rajesh and his buddy Kaushal are totally shocked to hear her claim that she's actually from Venus and has come to Earth on a mission to find genuine love. They decide to call her Tara and figure out how to help her achieve her goal. They show her pictures of the most attractive guys they can think of – we're talking Brad Pitt level hot – and realize that if she's gonna have a shot with anyone, they should probably aim for someone who's actually available and single.

So these guys decide their best bet is to help Tara win over Desh, who just happens to be a massive Bollywood superstar with tons of female admirers. What follows is basically a hilarious adventure where they're trying to set up this alien woman with one of India's biggest celebrities, all while figuring out if there's more going on between Rajesh and Tara than meets the eye.
