Review
Ishq Vishk Rebound attempts to resurrect a beloved franchise by pivoting toward meta-narrative territory—a screenwriter mining his own romantic failures for material—but the execution lacks the wit and emotional precision such a premise demands. Director Bosco Martis leans heavily on nostalgia and the chemistry of its ensemble cast, and there are moments where the film captures genuine awkwardness in the central love triangle dynamic. However, the writing feels scattered; the parallel timelines between Raghav's present-day crisis and his college flashbacks don't generate enough narrative momentum, and the romantic entanglements play out predictably rather than revealing anything fresh about modern relationships or the nature of artistic inspiration. The performances are earnest enough—particularly in scenes where vulnerability breaks through—but even capable actors can't elevate dialogue that settles for surface-level observations about friendship and love.
The film's core weakness lies in its inability to decide whether it's a campus romance, a workplace comedy, or a meditation on how artists weaponize their personal lives. This uncertainty translates to a scattered 130-minute runtime that feels both overstuffed and undercooked. The environmental activism angle attached to Riya's character gets introduced and abandoned without thematic depth, and Raghav's moral journey—betraying his friends' trust by fictionalizing their lives—is treated as a plot device rather than an ethi
Storyline
So this guy Raghav is a screenwriter who's stuck in a tight spot at work—his boss is breathing down his neck about finishing a romantic script, and he's basically running out of time. Instead of making something up, he figures he'll just write about his own love life from the past year, which honestly seems like it could work. This kicks off this whole flashback where we get to see what he's been dealing with lately.
The story takes us back to Raghav's college days in Dehradun with his two best friends, Sanya and Sahir. These three were basically joined at the hip growing up, but as they got older, things started shifting between them. Sanya and Sahir ended up getting together romantically, and at the same time, Raghav started dating this girl Riya who's really passionate about the environment and making a difference in the world.
Here's where it gets messy though—even though Raghav's supposed to be focused on his relationship with Riya, he keeps getting dragged into the drama between Sanya and Sahir. He's constantly playing referee between them and their constant fights, which obviously isn't great for his own love life. Riya starts getting frustrated because she can tell his head and heart aren't really in their relationship, and things between them start falling apart over it.
